EPSO Logical Deduction Questions

What are logical deduction questions?

Logical deduction questions present a short passage β€” typically about EU policy, legislation, or institutional procedures β€” and ask you to identify which conclusion can be validly derived from the information given. Unlike inference questions, deductions must follow necessarily from the premises.

These questions test your ability to distinguish between what the text actually states or implies versus what might seem plausible but goes beyond the evidence. Common traps include answers that are true in the real world but not supported by the passage.

Tips for logical deduction

1

Read the passage twice: once for overall meaning, once for specific details

2

Eliminate answers that introduce information not in the passage

3

Watch for absolute words (always, never, all) β€” they're usually wrong

4

The correct answer must be 100% supported by the passage, not just probable
